This week, we are delighted to welcome Tim Fowler as ERO's Acting Chief Review Officer (CRO) and Chief Executive.

Tim has been seconded to us from the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC), where he has been Chief Executive since April 2013. Prior to TEC, Tim was Deputy Chief Executive, Quality Assurance at the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA).

Tim has held international and management positions in Australia and New Zealand in both the private and university sectors after starting his career in the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.

Please join us in welcoming Tim to the ERO whānau.

Introducing our new Guide to Schools: for parents and whānau

We are excited to announce the launch of our Guide to Schools: for parents and whānau, a useful companion to our new school reports.

As we shared and tested our new school reports with parents and whānau across the country, they told us that they wanted to understand more about our reviews and what our reports are really saying about their child’s school, and often, they had questions about what makes a great school, and some misconceptions that need ironing out. This new guide will support them with this.

You'll find the Guide here on our website.

I would like to sincerely thank all the parents and whānau who have contributed to this guide. We have enjoyed connecting with parents throughout its development, and have appreciated all the feedback, wonderings and ideas. This has been a truly collaborative experience!

Thank you for your ongoing commitment to clear communication and for supporting our community’s engagement in student learning.
